Your drawing is really nice here, Robin. I personally would have cropped out the blank space. You also may want to try using a harder edged brush or customize your own. The default soft round brush in photoshop tends to cheapen digital painting. In traditional painting there's always a texture that shows because of the brush hair, which is a difficult effect effect to emulate digitally.
